Bellevue Neurology is headed by Dr. Roopa Bhat, MD, PhD, a                                                       board-certified neurologist who developed an affinity for the Pacific
Northwest while doing an Internal Medicine Internship in Providence
Portland Medical Center in Portland, OR. She then trained in Neurology
at Stanford Hospital and Clinics in Stanford, CA. She completed her
residency in Neurology and translational fellowship in Multiple Sclerosis
and Neuroimmunology Research at Stanford. After that, she served as
faculty there, supervising the neurology clinics of Neurology residents
and winning teaching award from the Stanford medical students. She has published articles and authored chapters in top journals including the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Multiple Sclerosis, Neuron, Nature medicine and the Tarascon Clinical Neurology Pocketbook.

After her years in California, Dr. Bhat returned to the Pacific Northwest in 2013 to practice in Washington. She remains a firm believer in education. She frequently gives educational patient talks and spends time during a patient's visit to explain the mechanism of neurologic dysfunction and how treatments may be working. At Bellevue Neurology, her practice covers all aspects of general neurology. She also has a special interest in multiple sclerosis and migraine.

In her free time, she likes watching Seahawks games, cooking, bicycling in the summer and snow sports in the winter. Her most significant physical achievement was to complete the Seattle to Portland and Seattle to Vancouver, Canada, bicycle rides in 2015. She looks forward to continuing to enjoy the outdoors in the Pacific Northwest. She is training to do the Seattle to Portland bike ride in 1 day in 2019.
